Peak District, Hathersage from Wyming Brook via Stanage Edge

Plan A consisting of trying to get to Derwent Valley was scuppered by lots of snow blocking the A57 so a Plan B was swiftly drafted. Redmires to Hathersage via Stanage Edge, we made it to Wyming Brook in the car which was good enough to make a start.

7hrs.

A wild Stanage Edge.
After parking up at Wyming Brook we walked up passed the dams towards the track leading up to Stanage Pole.
Stanage Pole.
Looking back towards Sheffield.
On the Roman Road to Stanage Edge.
At Stanage Edge. The snow drifts were getting quite alarming as was the fierce wind.
Wow.
The wind was cutting right across the top.
At the trig looking over to Higger Tor.
We are now at the parking area at Upper Burbage Bridge and that Land Rover isn't going anywhere.
Further along the road now and the drifting is quite alarming, hope these sheep were ok as they didn't look at all happy.
No buses today then.....
Heading down the road running beneath Stanage Edge.
Hathersage comes into view.
It's just a matter of walking along this "road" to get to it.
This bit's been ploughed.
Just above Hathersage a snow blower is clearing a drift blocking the road.
It has quite a lot of drift to shift.
The main road through Hathersage was surprisingly clear of snow with the traffic moving freely.
At Brookfield Manor (outbuilding) now out of Hathersage.
At North Lees Hall.
Back at Stanage Edge now and we have to get up onto the top to get back to Stanage Pole and back to Wyming Brook, just a matter of climbing the drift.
Pause to take in the view.
The ascent route, kicking steps was the order of the day.
Don't think I've ever seen Stanage quite like this.
Back at Stanage Pole.
The plughole at Redmires dams.
Back at the car after a very tiring but exhilarating day.
